Looking online, it's unclear if this will or won't work with the iPhone 4:

1) to power the phone (eg, from a Bose Speaker Dock)

2) connect with Apple's Bumper Case installed

phone calls to mfg have been unanswered

Yes the cable is thinker, but the plugs themselves are flimsy. My broke within the 50 uses. Better to by a dozen cheaper extension cables than this expensive average one.

PROs: Works great. Fits the Otterbox case perfectly. Wire size is heavier than typical, but in this day and age of cheap imitations and poor quality, this is a refreshing change. Reception is crystal clear. Station tuning is simple.

CON's: Expensive for a simple adapter cable. Also, when in use, the iphone intermittently pops up a notice that "This device does not support charging". Sometimes it appears multiple consecutive times after I tap the cancel button; other times the notice pops up once and then goes away. Their seems to be no rhyme or reason...

Overall, I'm happy with it, but wish Otterbox would either change their design to accommodate external (non-USB)device connection without requiring removal of the case (preferred), or start including their own extension cable for that purpose.

I needed an extension cable to work with an Otter box-enclosed iPhone3G, and a zoom media SD card reader. Both the cable and the card reader now work with my iPhone together and I transfer a lot of photos with it. Works great!
