I needed to connect my Firewire 400 peripheral to my Firewire 800 Macbook Pro. Staples had the necessary cable--for $50! No one should agree to pay that inflated price when you can wait a few days and have companies like Oyen deliver the same cable for more than 5 times less. Just say no!

My mac mini only came with firewire 800 so i got this cable to convert it to firewire 400. It works, I am happy with it. My 2nd generation iPod charges and syncs as if it were a regular firewire cable.
