I'm of the opinion that pretty much all firewire cables are created equally. I had to buy this because the iMac that I bought only has Firewire 800. I think this is a much better solution than a connector from 400 to 800, that just seems like it would slow things down considerably. This is a really good length and I haven't had any issues with the cable at all.
