Description
The Versatiel Shoe Mount Multiclamp lets you to attach your on-camera flash to a lightstand and add an umbrella or softbox. The Multiclamp makes it possible to raise and tilt your light - something this is not possible when your flash is mounted directly to a lightstand. Your flash can in addition be mounted horizontally or vertically and, by utilizing three clamps, two flashes can be mounted mutually for extra lighting power. Moving your flash away from your camera and adding an umbrella or softbox will provide you even, diffused light this is flattering to your subjects.

Customer Reviews
Customer rating is 1 of 5  Item is cheap and useless.   2010-03-06
By Kerem Y. Yilmaz (Los Angeles, CA USA)
Bought from Adorama Camera. It broke at first use even it was handled with care.
It is useless because it can not hold an umbrella or a reflector.
Even it is sold for that purpose, No way, It is not built for that.
The flash shoe is made by metal and can damage seriously your flash.
Shame on Adorama to sell such week and cheep item with a high price.
Overall it is just loss of money. DONT'T BUY IT. DON'T EVEN BOTHER.
Customer rating is 4 of 5  Not terrible so far; does most of what it should   2010-01-29
By Sean P. Cook
I have two of these, and there are priceless, really. They are a necessity on any job. They have held up so far for 8-9 months. I appreciate the little things, like how the handle can be re-oriented without loosening the clamp. So, for the money, I've been happy. However, there are two things I would like to see change:

1) Make the cold-shoe surface something other than metal, for crying out loud.
Myself and every photographer I know has to put gaffer tape or something over the surface or risk the flash going into "psycho rapid-fire" mode. It's not like it takes a lot of money to put a piece of tape over it, but it's just one of those things that feels ridiculous having to do.

2) Cut down the bulk a bit.
They are light, and fairly small, but with a smaller lightstand bag, it can be a game of tetris trying to fit two or three of these things in one bag. Especially with the clunky knobs; they stick out quite a bit further than they need to, and the handle is a bit cumbersome.

So, all that being said, I will likely buy a few more. Just wish those two things were changed.
Customer rating is 2 of 5  Cheap, for a reason   2010-01-24
By B. Johnsen
I've had my multiclamp for about 6 months now, and I've become more and more jaded with each use.

The construction feels cheap, and the shoe can't seem to keep my strobe attached. I have been tightening the screw to the point where I'm afraid it's too tight, and if it's not level, my strobe still feels like it's falling off. Recently the screw-head broke off, and now I'm searching everywhere to find a replacement. There must be a better way to get a solid feel when many of us are putting very expensive strobes on the clamp.

Use it with my 580exII and a 45in umbrella - all fit snug. Feels very solid in terms of quality and use for my needs. The lever and knobs are easy to use. The hot-shoe clamp could work a little better when securing the screw, but am overall happy with it.
Customer rating is 3 of 5  Applicability Varies With Your Flash Unit   2009-12-28
By James P. Beard (Charlottesville, Virginia United States)
This is a good unit for the intended purpose "IF" you have a relatively flat (as in not tall) flash unit. I use a Canon 580 EXII and that particular flash unit has a vertical body that holds the batteries and controls with a flash had mounted on top. As a result, when placed on this holder, the flash sits very high relative to the umbrella. The umbrella holder and flash mount cannot be adjusted separately since they move together. I solved this problem with $25 worth of gear from another company that lets me mount my flash separately anywhere on my light stand. So, in practice I use this unit as an umbrella holder only.
