Customer rating is 5 of 5  MPVT1--I love it!   2010-06-30

I play an EWI (electronic wind instrument) and the MPVT1 makes a great practice tool.

I use it to transcribe songs I want to play. The 'slow-down' feature works well for this purpose. When you slow it way down the sound quality degrades some, but it is still good enough to do the transcription. You can get higher quality audio from a PC based slow down program, but then you must have a pc (and wait for it to boot, etc.). This fits in my instrument case, so I can practice with it anyware.

I also like the looping feature, though it would be nice if you had more control over the entry and exit points.

I found the user interface to be fairly easy to grasp and figured out how to change any setting relatively rapidly.
When I first got it there were some effects turned which I didn't realize at first. Once I turned them off, the input mixed well with the audio and I was jamming along with the songs I put on it.

The voice cancelation works pretty well. I had it cancelling out some horn parts in some jazz songs--cool!

I'd really like these features with more memory (so I could have all my songs on it :-) ), but for 108 bucks its really is a great deal.

I showed it to someone at work who promtly bought one.

Customer rating is 5 of 5  Works For Us...   2010-06-21

My wife and I are amateur musicians. We play in a small band, at church, and duets at retirement homes. We need a player that has visible and accessible buttons and that's a reliable mp3 player. We will probably use the voice training feature very little but the pitch and tempo change capability may be useful at times. This little unit works very well on our gigs. We are running it through a Roland Cube. The tone quality is very good. It's very easy to add/remove songs via the usb and also easy to have folders for different gig locations with more folders of different programs. We like to use single play which works well. We did buy the brand name power cord even though I found an extra power cord that worked okay. For the price this unit meets our needs quite nicely.
Customer rating is 5 of 5  Excellent tool for singers   2010-05-13
By kem (texas)
My wife is a semiprofessional singer. She sang her way through college on a music scholarship and since graduating does back-up singing for various artists as well as leading songs in our church. When I saw this item in a gold box deal I decided to take a chance and see if it would help her. She was very impressed with all of the features. She was preparing to sing in a wedding for a former college roommate that requested her presence at the wedding. I tend to handle all of the tech stuff in the household so I loaded all of the songs on the player for her and showed her how to use it. After she learned how it worked she was looping parts to songs in no time. One thing I did not like about the device was the interface. It can be very confusing at first trying to find the music on your player. The menu layout is somewhat unorthodox and counter-intuitive. Once you understand how to navigate through it though it gets better. Overall she seemed very pleased.
Customer rating is 1 of 5  poor power switch design   2010-04-18
By Simon H. Yao (canada)
I have returned two units, the first one came with defective power switch, won't even turn on. The second one worked only once, try to turn it on the second time, the sliding power switch just quit, would not spring back. I really liked the concept of this unit, tried with mic and headphone it sounds good, other then the power switch problem, I would have give it a 5 star.
Customer rating is 4 of 5  Slow down music   2010-03-15

I had been searched something like this for while but did not find anything I liked till I saw this, MPVT1, on Amazon. I am using it to slow down guitar lessons so I can play/learn every note. For beginner, it can slow down tempo without changing pitch and you cannot tell the difference. However, my teacher is able to notice change in pitch. I also bought an AC adapter because it does not play while charging via USB connector.
